In the spring of 2017, a small group of people who had individually been advocating to make green burial a viable option in the state formed Green Burial Vermont.   The group's purpose is to facilitate the creation and operation of green cemeteries (both “hybrid” cemeteries as well as “conservation” burial grounds ) in a manner that will maximize environmental benefit in the community, and offer ethical, spiritual and financial value to those who wish to plan for a green burial.
